An Afternoon With… Gareth Harwood

To wrap up such a busy month full of events, this Wednesday we hosted An Afternoon With… Gareth Harwood, Technical Art Director at Playground Games.

It was a very interesting talk where Gareth went into detail about many aspects of the creation of the visually stunning Forza Horizon 4: the cars, the four seasons you’ll experience throughout the game, the buildings, roads, the foliage and even what went into creating the beautiful skies. They really did go the extra mile!

After the talk, and accompanied with some refreshments, the attendees had the opportunity to chat a bit more with Gareth and also Nick Duncombe, Resource Manager at Playground.

I have been teaching new creative talent for the past 15+ years, at institutions such as Alpha Channel and the University of Hertfordshire. I've also wrote numerous published books about Unreal Engine including; UDK Basics, Level Design and Documentation and UDK Games scenarios integration as well creating game assets for the next generation consoles such as the racing game ‘Pacer’. Currently working on my own game!
