This is a little late to the party, as we have already given ourselves a big pat on the back with this years Rookies, but now that the dust has settled it has been great to reflect on the evolution of the games course at Escape Studio. It has really only just sunk in and I am super proud of the fact that we came first in the UK and eighth in the world for Game Design and Development.
I first started teaching and heading the games course at Escape course in 2008, and in that time the course has transformed from just me in a small single class at Shepherds Bush to a great team of games tutors, teaching on an MA, a 3 year Undergraduate course and a whole host of short and online courses. It has been an amazing journey, we have been very lucky to have had wonderful mentors from the development community helping guide our students in their projects and we are super proud of students’ individual work and group projects.
Teamwork can be a painful process, it’s not easy learning to be a Games Artist and our students work hard to realise their ambitions, creating awesome work along the way.
So as well as celebrating the work of our students I also wanted to give a shout-out to the Games Tutors at Escape as well, we are a passionate team who love all things games and real-time and we are continually focused on helping our students towards their goals, in a landscape of ever changing hardware, Skillsets and Software. It’s a challenging and super rewarding time to be a games tutor.
