Environment Artist Vasiliy Poryagin

Continuing our series of interviews with 3D Artists, I would like to share a talk I had with Vasiliy Poryagin, a talented Environment Artist.

Who or what inspired you to get into 3D art?

I am inspired by the creatures in my head. they constantly demand new achievements. The virtual world is a new entity for creativity.

Our information world is gradually transforming and developing. This statement also applies to the metaworld.

Inspiration comes when you begin to understand that any creation is alive.

What are you working on at the moment?

I am currently working on a new sci-fi location.

This environment will tell about the world of scientific and technological progress. In this world, cloning and synthesis of new biological models is progressing. This is the near future for mankind. This will greatly affect the mental state of a person.

What does your typical workflow look like and what tools and software do you prefer?

My workflow is not typical.

I combine deep diving into my worlds and brainstorming a lot.

But my software is very typical: Zbrush, Blender, Substance Painter 3d, Marvelous Designer & Houdini.

What key piece of advice would you offer to a 3D artist aspiring to work in the games industry?

My main advice to any artist: Every artist needs constant practice. Practice every day for many hours and it will help you.

What’s your favourite game and why?

A game that gives you an unforgettable experience is the best game for me.

Any experience that can help a person.

But I don’t have this game yet.

Finally, what do you like to do in your spare time (if you have any)?

When I have free time I like to explore this world, but unfortunately I have almost no free time.

Thank you Vasily for the chat. Don’t forget to check his Artstation for more awesomeness!
